Enterprise Risk Management
We have been working on ERM programs for 10 years and by developing and assisting to implement dozens of programs in Australia, UK, Hong Kong and Asia, we have a sensible, workable and comprehensive approach for effective management and governance of business risk. Adapting to culture is key and our clients are all very different.  We have helped many mining businesses (large and not so large) grow in Australia including FMG, Atlas, Asia Iron, Western Areas and Iluka, the Jardine businesses in Hong Kong including Hong Kong Land, Hactl, Jardine Airport and Shipping Services and the IT business, JOS. 

Project Risk Management
Over 15 years experience in supporting project risk management has resulted in tailored project risk programs, following the enterprise model, and facilitation of planning, value, risk, safety and constructability reviews at all levels. Our strong construction focus extends to hundreds of reviews annually in rail, port, building and mine development during all project phases. We support owners, engineers, designers and contractors. We focus on a range of risk areas with major owners such as Rio Tinto, BHPB, Xtrata/Sphere, engineers such as SKM and Calibre and contractors such as Laing O’Rourke and Brierty.

Professional Services
In 2004, we identified the need to assist professionals better manage liability and commercial risks associated with delivering design, advice and management services to their clients. Our unique approach to PSRM, built on legal, insurance, and construction knowledge, has lead to long term work in the UK and Australia supporting companies such as Kier Group, Laing O’Rourke, Bilfinger Berger Services Tensar and Land Securities and with Law Mutual in WA.

We develop and review corporate governance, ethics and compliance frameworks and use risk to identify gaps and actions to improve practices. We work in health and safety, community, heritage and environment risk to focus on high level as well as activity risks. Due to increasing stakeholder focus on corporate social responsibility, we are adapting ISO26000 to client needs and using risk to identify need and assist in reporting. We are currently working with WSA, FMG and Atlas to support their approaches.

Business Continuity strategy, structure and planning is fundamental to sound business management. Our capability is founded on many years of working with our clients on a whole from business approach to resilience risk management, recognising that insurance is part of the strategy for business resilience. Our UK offering extends to security strategy and review. We work with a range of businesses in ERM programs or standalone to ensure extreme risks are well controlled and funded.

Strategy and Systems
Our objectives based approach has resulted in a sharp focus on how our clients provide direction and goals for the business to aspire to. Strategic planning is about the longer term approach to increasing shareholder value. We facilitate development of strategic plans, align objectives and risks to these for an aligned approach to business planning.  As risk management is a discipline that supports all activities, we integrate risk with other management systems, map core processes for key activities and develop a range of management systems for improved control.
